The outcome was not at all what FC Barcelona had hoped for, but they were able to get it. Barcelona lost two very important points away at Rayo Vallecano, where they tied 1-1.
Since Xavi Hernandez is already getting bad press, this match doesn’t do much to help. While Real Madrid is still ahead of Barcelona by one point, Girona is still three points behind them in third place.
This is how the Barcelona players did in their game against Rayo Vallecano.
Scores for Players
6.0 for Inaki Pena
Didn’t do anything wrong that night, but still couldn’t keep a clean sheet. It wasn’t how Barcelona is used to seeing the ball, but Inaki Pena shouldn’t be blamed too much for how he played.
7.0 for Joao Cancelo
Seen as the most mature of the Barcelona players that night, he moved with a lot more care and responsibility than his group. Besides that, he took a lot more risk than anyone would have thought possible.
6.5 for Andreas Christensen
The Danish defender played pretty well. It was easy for him to pass the ball, and he did a good job of playing defense with good movement.
7.5 for Inigo Martinez
Even though he is older, the Spanish player always seems to have more energy when he plays for Barcelona. His skill with the ball is still very useful for Barcelona. At the end of the game, he threw a great pass to Balde that set up the goal.
Juan Alejandro Balde: 6.5
The young Spanish player came back into the starting eleven for Barcelona. This wasn’t at all what Xavi or the man himself had hoped for, though. Barcelona could use his speed to their advantage, but his risky runs were not very memorable.
6.0 for Oriol Romeu
In many ways, Oriol Romeu is still a problem for Barcelona. He takes a long time to make decisions and isn’t very creative with technology. These are two clear flaws that make Barcelona feel much more exposed than they would like.
6.5 for Pedri
There were times when the Golden Boy was truly brilliant, but in the end, it was not enough. Many of his decisions went wrong, and he turned the ball over too many times. Pedri will want to quickly forget about that showing.
Frenkie De Jong: 7 out of 10
Before the game even started, the Dutchman’s comeback might have been the best part. In the end, Frenkie De Jong also delivered, showing a great level of control and calmness. He needs more time to get back to his best, but this is a good start.
6.5 for Lamine Yamal
As a starter, the 16-year-old star was given the freedom to bother Rayo Vallecano. He didn’t have his best game for Barcelona so far, but it wasn’t a bad one either. The trip was fine for the kid, with some scary runs thrown in here and there.
Robert Lewandowski: 6 points
seemed to have tied the game for Barcelona, but Rayo scored an own goal instead. The Polish scorer didn’t do much during most of the game, and what he did contribute wasn’t very important.
6.0 for Ferran Torres
Like the rest of his attack partners, Ferran Torres was pretty quiet that night. The Spaniard didn’t play much; he only had 25 touches during his whole time on the field, which shows how poorly he did.
Different kinds of
6.5 for Ilkay Gundogan
Barcelona got back in charge thanks to the German’s knowledge and calmness. He made passes and saw things that opened up places that he then used against Rayo.
6.0 for Fermin Lopez
As soon as the young Spanish player stepped on, he was active and paying attention. Made a good impact on the field, but in the end, he couldn’t help Barcelona win.
7.0 for Joao Felix
Felix added a whole new dimension to Barcelona’s attack and was arguably the most important replacement after Raphinha. The Portuguese star was a great way to start the game because he drew defenders’ attention and gave his teammates more options with his one-touch moves and smart passes.
7.0 for Raphinha
The Brazilian winger was very scary when he played with Felix. Rayo was on the edge of their seats with his moves, shots, and even crosses that went in.
