The forward who used to play for Manchester United has had a good start to his time in France, scoring five goals in five games, including two on his debut.

He left England after being caught in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, assault, and forcing someone to do something against their will. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges, though, because “key witnesses withdrew” and “new information came to light.”

After the event, Nike ended their sponsorship deal with the forward without giving him any money. They had already put the relationship on hold after he was arrested.

When Greenwood wore yellow and orange Nike boots during his team’s win over Lyon over the weekend, it made people think that he had signed a new deal. However, Nike has now shot down that idea.

Nike told Mail Sport that Mason Greenwood is not a Nike athlete after being asked for a statement.

Mail Sport has learnt that Greenwood’s endorsement deal had a clause that let Nike cut all ties with him without having to pay him anything because of damage to their image and loss of commercial value.

Greenwood was about to sign a better deal with Nike before he was let go, and the player could have lost millions because of the move.

People think that the only money Greenwood would have been owed would have been any unpaid bonuses.

In November 2023, Greenwood showed off his trainer collection on social media, and many of them were Nike shoes. Nike stated that he was not an athlete for their brand.

He showed off a few pairs of £23,000 Nike shoes. When he was on loan at Getafe, he also played in old Nike boots.

Greenwood moved from Manchester United to Marseille for £30 million in July, after spending a season on loan at Getafe. However, his move to Marseille caused a lot of trouble.

During the summer, Benoit Payan, the mayor of Marseille, spoke out against signing Greenwood. Longoria, the club’s president, was still sure that Marseille had made the right choice.
