On Wednesday, Mason Greenwood made his debut for Getafe as his new team was held to a 2-2 draw by Athletic Bilbao.
The Manchester United loanee was a substitute in Getafe’s last two games, but manager Jose Bordalas decided to start him on the wing.
Gaston Alvarez’s goal in the second half, which tied the game at 1-1, was assisted by Greenwood.
Some Athletic Bilbao supporters had booed the 21-year-old at San Mames.
Greenwood’s last appearance was in Man United’s 1-0 victory against West Ham at Old Trafford on January 22, 2022; 613 days later, he was named to Getafe’s starting lineup.

He has already had an immediate impact on his new surroundings.However, he has received a nasty reception from opposing fans in La Liga, many of whom are obviously upset that Getafe decided to recruit the player given the circumstances of his departure from England.During the Man United academy product’s debut for the team, some Osasuna fans yelled “Greenwood die” at him.Following an investigation by the Spanish Football Federation, Osasuna manager Jagoba Arrasate denounced the taunts thrown at the player.His first start for Getafe was received on Wednesday with a similar reception from Athletic fans, as his every touch prompted jeers during the first phases of the encounter.As Greenwood initially struggled to relax, Getafe fell behind in the sixth minute as left-back Yuri Berchiche scored.He eventually started to have more of an impact on the game, orchestrating two attacks around the halfway point and scoring Alvarez’s equalizer six minutes into the second half.Inaki Williams gave the hosts a 2-1 lead, forcing Getafe to come from behind once more. However, Juanmi Latasa’s goal seven minutes from time gave Greenwood’s team a point.
