Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United loanee, received a straight red card this evening for dissent during Getafe’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano.
Just after halftime, with Getafe behind 2-0 and already reduced to ten men, the forward was substituted.
Following his request for a foul, Greenwood was observed yelling at the referee.
The referee then gestured to the dugout and instantly gave him a red card.
Getafe was down to nine players after Greenwood was dismissed.
In the 40th minute, Juanmi Latasa was dismissed for a second yellow card.
Then, halfway through the second half, Damian Suarez saw red, cutting Getafe down to eight.
Just before the half ended, Sergio Camello’s goal gave Rayo Vallecano the lead.
Shortly after the interval, the scorer doubled his team’s lead.
Greenwood was sent off after starting the game on the right wing.
Since coming to Getafe on loan from Manchester United at the beginning of the season, the 22-year-old has contributed four assists and five goals in 15 games for the team.
He is currently connected to a significant summer transfer.
Last week, SunSport reported that Barcelona is interested in signing him for a fee of £40 million.
The La Liga powerhouses are also prepared to give him the renowned No. 10 shirt worn by Lionel Messi.
It’s also rumored that Atletico Madrid is interested.
