Erik ten Hag anticipates that more Manchester United injured players will play against Burnley on the following Saturday.
After Brighton defeated United at Old Trafford for the fourth time in a row, United have now lost three of their opening five games for the first time in Premier League history.
In the 3-1 loss, United were without Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad, but Ten Hag is optimistic that his team will be more complete at Turf Moor.
Before that, United faced Bayern Munich in the group stage opener of the Champions League. One anonymous player would be up for consideration to join the traveling group, according to Ten Hag.
Regarding a potential comeback, Ten Hag said, “Maybe, maybe one player.” But I feel that Munich is a little too brief. The players will return the week after I arrive in Burnley.
“Bayern Munich is one of the favorites to win the Champions League, so we have to be good there, and I already explained we need character, belief, resilience, and determination, absolutely.”
Amad is rehabilitating from a knee ailment he suffered during the preseason tour of the United States, while Mainoo has been out for two months due to an ankle injury. Varane hasn’t played since being replaced at halftime of the 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest three weeks ago, Mount hasn’t played in the last three games due to a muscular issue, and Amrabat withdrew from the Moroccan team for their friendly victory over Burkina Faso last week.Tyrell Malacia reported for preseason with an injury, while Tom Heaton sustained a calf injury in preseason and is currently out.
