Kylian Mbappé, the ex-Paris Saint-Germain star, has stirred things up in France after Didier Deschamps decided to leave the 25-year-old out of the squad for the UEFA Nations League games against Israel and Belgium.
Mbappé’s dealing with a thigh injury, which probably played a part in him being left out, but it wasn’t the only reason. He got called up for PSG’s match against Villarreal and even kicked off the game before the international break.
So, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is getting some heat again after it came out that he was seen partying at a nightclub in Sweden while France was busy snagging a UEFA Nations League win against Israel.
Some people might think the French media is making a bigger deal out of the situation than it really is. The forward can totally chill during his time off, and this FIFA break gives players a week to relax before club football kicks back in.
Still, one commentator thinks the French guy should’ve just stuck around in Madrid instead of heading off to Sweden.
“Kylian Mbappé definitely needed a little time to chill, and that totally makes sense,” Kevin Diaz said Saturday on After Foot RMC. “If you’ve ever played sports or just tackled daily stuff, you know how it can be…” And especially for him, the amount of attention and stress he deals with has to be huge.
“We shouldn’t get too hung up on his age or anything, but that situation just didn’t seem to make sense.” Totally get why he feels the pressure and could use a little break. But after all the drama, even if he had some ideas, to be real… He could’ve rolled with the situation. If I were his buddy, I’d say he should just cancel it. He could’ve just hung out in Madrid.
“If he wants to go out, he should do it in Madrid, but just stay home.” Well, you see… Or maybe he just doesn’t care, and maybe he really doesn’t. But I feel like it just gives people another chance to mix things up. I’m not saying we’re the worst, but the media is definitely doing its thing, looking into and questioning everything. As fans, we totally have the right to ask questions too.
