To honor former footballer Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi wore a replica Argentina number 10 shirt from the 1994 World Cup, released today in collaboration with Adidas.
Messi performed a training session wearing the classic uniform of Argentina’s World Cup 94 team and revived the number 10 shirt to refer to Maradona, who participated in the last World Cup of his career that year.
The collection used by Messi was Argentina’s reserve shirt at that time, with darker blue and black details. The photo shoot was carried out by Adidas, the official sponsor of Argentina today and then.
This second shirt became popular after Maradona scored a goal against Greece – his only goal of the edition – and held a famous celebration in front of television cameras.
Messi will be on the field this Thursday (16), in the match against Uruguay, in round 5 of the South American Qualifiers. The ball rolls at 9:00 p.m. (Brasília time), at La Bombonera.
