A playful moment during Taylor Swift’s second Eras Tour concert in Melbourne is thrilling the pop star’s Australian fans.
The “Lover” songstress was in the middle of her performance of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” from her 2012 album Red when she turned to one of her backup dancers to help deliver a special message to her audience.
In the song’s pinnacle moment, when the lyrics declare that Swift is “never” reuniting with her romantic interest, she pointed her microphone at the dancer. They quickly stood to complete the lyric by saying, “Like, naur!”—a nod to how Australians pronounce the word “no.” The crowd erupted in cheers as Swift, 34, gave her Aussie fans a huge smile.
A video shared on social media by TikToker DJ Polly Pocket shows the moment, which the TikTok user described as “iconic.” One fan leaned into Swift’s messaging in the comments, writing, “Like NAURRRRR.” Others left laughing and smiling emojis as they celebrated Swift’s onstage move
Swift’s special nod to her Australian fans came during her Feb. 17 show at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. She has one more show at the venue before her Eras Tour takes her to Sydney for four dates at Accor Stadium later this month.
The “Anti-Hero” singer is performing for the first time in Australia since her 2018 tour in support of Reputation. She completed her four Eras Tour dates in Japan last week, and her Melbourne dates come right after.
Swift achieved a major career milestone on February 16 when she played her first show in Melbourne in front of an estimated 96,000 fans. It was the largest show she had ever done, both during her Eras Tour and in her entire career. On the eve of that historic performance, Swift expressed her gratitude to the crowd by saying, “I’m incredibly touched that so many of you chose to spend a Friday night in Melbourne with us.”
