Manchester United has had a terrible start to the Premier League season. With only 12 points, they are currently 13th in the standings.
The Red Devils are six points behind the top four teams, but a long winning streak could put them back in the running for next year’s Champions League.
Since Erik ten Hag was fired, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been in charge temporarily. However, on November 11, Ruben Amorim will take over as the new manager.
The Portuguese manager has already said that he won’t be spending a lot of money on new players in January. Instead, he might wait until the summer to go on a buying spree.
Sky Sport reporter Sacha Tavolieri now says that Amorim’s first goal at United is to stabilize the defense, and he has named Goncalo Inacio of Sporting CP as one of his top summer targets.
In addition to Diomande, the 39-year-old could bring other Sporting CP players to Old Trafford. The club was interested in Diomande during the last transfer window.
United would make a good choice by getting Inacio.
United was looking for a left-footed center back for a couple of seasons and was mentioned with the 23-year-old. In the end, they hired Lisandro Martinez.
There is still a lot of talk about him, and the club may really try to sign him next summer when they need more central defenders.
It’s possible that Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans will all leave at the end of the season. This could make room for a couple of new backs.
The deal for Inacio has a release clause worth £50 million. He would be a great player to get.
The Portuguese center back is good at playing with the ball. This season in the Primeira Liga, he has a 91% passing success and wins more than 60% of his aerial duels.
He might be a good person to compete with Martinez. Since Amorim likes to play with three at the back, Inacio could play in any of those spots when needed.
If Amorim wants to add another right-footed central defender, Diomande would be a good choice.
The Ivorian’s form dropped earlier this year, but he has had a great start to this season.
95% of the passes he has attempted have been successful, and he has won almost 70% of his aerial attempts.
A lot of English teams are interested in the 20-year-old player, whose contract has a £67 million release clause. United may have the upper hand with Amorim in charge, though.
