Real Madrid legend Nacho joins Al Qadsiah of the RSLNacho: I didn’t want to play against Real Madrid.
Real Madrid captain Nacho formally joined Al Qadsiah after leaving the Spanish Royal Club. The emergency medical examination happened in Germany, in the centre of Europe.
Nacho had announced his decision to quit a few days before, despite Real Madrid’s announcement that they planned to extend his contract. The 34-year-old defender thanked Real Madrid for the choice he made. I had not yet signed a contract with a new team when Real Madrid contacted me a few days earlier, stating they were waiting for me to decide whether to change my mind. Similar to Toni Kroos, I am aware of my affection without a grandiose departure.
Nacho: I was unwilling to play Real Madrid.I’ve always been firm in my decision: if I don’t end up playing for Real Madrid, I don’t want to play for them. I want something new and different. I wanted this in spite of all the ups and downs. I’m quite happy right now.
Regarding his decision to leave, Nacho remarked, “I could have stayed at the club for another year, but there was nothing left to win titles at Real Madrid.” That doesn’t mean I’m not ambitious. To put it simply, I feel that this is the right time, and I feel confident and at ease with my choice.
Al Ittihad Club had before made Nacho an offer and desired for him to reunite with Karim Benzema. However, this athlete considered his options and ultimately chose Al Qadsiah. Wearing the Spanish national team uniform, Nacho and his colleagues will take on Georgia in the round of 16. If they go on, they’ll play Denmark or Germany in the quarterfinals.
