He made an impact at Anfield already.
Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes have apparently discovered a player who might be one of the Dutchman’s first signings at Liverpool as the Arne Slot era gets underway. The guy has previously demonstrated his ability to find the back of the net at Anfield.
News about Liverpool transfers
With Jurgen Klopp no longer with the team, Slot has large shoes to fill, but the summer transfer window should offer supporters in Merseyside an idea of what he is trying to accomplish.
The Reds have already been connected to a number of players, including Johan Bakayoko and Rodrygo, a winger for Real Madrid. These additions would help put a stop to the team’s lack of ruthlessness moving forward, which cost them dearly in this year’s championship match.
Slot’s first summer arrival should be a player of the same caliber as Sadio Mane, who was one of Klopp’s early acquisitions. Mane is a winger who is quick, direct, and merciless. Nevertheless, despite the additions of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, the attention may return to Liverpool’s midfield this summer in a recurrence of last year.
A player who is already acquainted with the Reds may arrive if such is the case. The Telegraph claims that Liverpool is interested in signing Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, although the Midlands team and Newcastle United may yet be able to outbid them on a deal. Naturally, Ramsey scored during Villa’s 1-1 tie with Liverpool at Anfield in 2023, a period when Klopp’s team was struggling to find their rhythm.
Ramsey, who is still only 22 years old and makes an estimated £70,000 a week, should have plenty more to give, and joining a team the caliber of Liverpool could help him realize that potential, especially as Slot looks to establish himself in Merseyside.
Curtis Jones can’t compete with “Terrific” Ramsey.
For a team trying to fight on all fronts, competition is good, and Ramsey would add even more of it to Anfield. The young talent from Aston Villa is comparable to players like Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. If the latter joins Slot at Liverpool, he can especially compete with Jones, who has equaled his output this season despite missing a significant portion of the campaign due to injury.
Furthermore, Ramsey already has the endorsement of Steven Gerrard, a Liverpool veteran who gave the midfielder high marks when he managed Aston Villa.
Gerrard stated, as quoted by TNT Sports, “He’s not emulating anybody else.” It’s Jacob Ramsey, Jacob Ramsey. He’ll be a fantastic athlete. I have no doubt that soon the entire nation will be watching him. Let me tell you, he’s right up there.”
As a young midfielder with plenty of potential to become a great player, Ramsey could be one to monitor when the summer transfer window opens and Villa looks to allay any concerns about profit and sustainability.
