After being taken off in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Alaves on Tuesday, Kylian Mbappe was diagnosed with a thigh muscle injury. The forward will be out for about three weeks.

Mbappe has been amazing for Madrid since joining for free from PSG this summer, scoring seven goals in nine games. His absence will be a huge blow for his manager Carlo Ancelotti, who will not have the Frenchman for this weekend’s big derby against rivals Atletico.

Before being taken off in the 80th minute, the 25-year-old scored Madrid’s second goal against Alaves. Ancelotti said the player asked to be replaced.

Now, Real Madrid has revealed that Mbappe was hurt and said that the player will continue to be watched as he starts to heal.

Later, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said Mbappe might be out for three weeks. If that’s true, he won’t be able to play in any of the club’s next three games before the international break.

In the Champions League, Madrid has to go to Lille and then play Villarreal at home. On top of that, they have to go to Atletico on Sunday.

The club was hoping that the problem was just some slight pain in the thigh, but his absence from the game against Atletico will be very bad for the team because he is so important to it.

Mbappe had a slow start and didn’t score in his first three La Liga games. But he now has four goals in as many games.

Madrid does have a lot of attacking choices while Mbappe is out. Players like Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Joselu are all ready to play until he comes back next month.
