🚨🚨OFFICIAL: Man United CONFIRMED the double signing of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich for £60m as Erik ten Hag reunites with his former players at Ajax🤗🤗

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, two defenders from Bayern Munich, have been signed by Manchester United for a total of £60 million.

These two players will be the club’s third and fourth additions of the summer transfer window. Erik ten Hag’s team has now spent about £149 million on new players, including Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

Matthijs de Ligt signs for Manchester United.

De Ligt will wear the No. 4 shirt, which has been worn by Steve Bruce, David May, and Phil Jones in the past. Mazraoui has chosen to wear the No. 3 jersey, which had been worn by Denis Irwin, Phil Neville, and Patrice Evra.

For both deals to go through, each person must first be registered. There is a chance that De Ligt, 25, could be added for an extra £4.27m (€5m). He was signed in a £38.5m (€45m) deal. The Dutch centre back also signed a five-year deal that keeps him with the team until 2029, with a chance to add a sixth year.

Mazraoui, a 26-year-old right back, will join the club for £12.8m (€15m), plus an extra £4.27m (€5m). He agreed to stay with the club until June 2028, and they can add another year to his contract if they want to.

Noussair Mazroaoui signs for Manchester United.

At the start of the transfer window, United stepped up their search for a new centre back and two full backs for each side of the defence. This was because they had a lot of injuries to key players last season.

There will be a reunion between De Ligt and Mazraoui and their old boss, Ten Hag. Both players worked for the Dutch manager at Ajax.

The two flew in from Munich on Monday morning to get checked out. They were also seen having dinner at the fancy Fish restaurant in Deansgate yesterday evening.

“As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt excited about the chance for a new challenge at such a historic club,” De Ligt, who will wear the No. 4 shirt, said on the move.

“In the conversations that followed, I was impressed by the football leadership’s vision and how they saw me fitting into it.”

“Erik ten Hag helped shape the early stages of my career, so he knows how to get the best out of me,” the Dutch player said. “I can’t wait to work with him again.”

“I know what it takes to do well at the highest level, and I’m set on keeping that record at this special club.”

Dan Ashworth, the sporting director of Man United, said, “Matthijs is a great defender and a proven winner. He will add quality, experience, and leadership to our current group of senior players.”

“He has already had a lot of success in his career, and we’re sure that his best years are still to come. We want to help him reach those goals at Manchester United.”

Ajax has a great school that both De Ligt and Mazraoui graduated from. De Ligt left Ajax in 2019 to join Juventus. In 2020, he would win the Serie A title. In 2022, he would move to Bayern and win the Bundesliga title there the next year.

Mazraoui, on the other hand, was an important part of Morocco’s 2022 World Cup team and helped them make it to the semifinals. He joined Bayern from Ajax in 2022, having won three Eredivisie titles with the Dutch team. The full-back can play on either side of defence.

“Being a Manchester United player is amazing, and I can’t wait to walk out at Old Trafford wearing the red shirt,” the Moroccan player said as he made his move.

“I feel like I’m joining the club at an exciting time. Everyone I’ve talked to wants us to win trophies together, and I can feel the drive to make that happen.”

Noussair Mazraoui has also joined the club

Erik ten Hag was a big part of my growth as a player, so it’s great to be working with him again now that I’m in the prime of my career.

I will do everything I can to help the team succeed because I know what he wants from us.

The coach also said that Noussair is a quick, driving full-back who can play on either the right or left side of defence. Because he is experienced and can do many things, he will be a great addition to our team.

“Having already won a lot of trophies in his career, Noussair’s desire to win will be a big help to the team as we work together to give Manchester United the success they need.”

Before the news came out, De Ligt also used social media to say goodbye to Bayern Munich and the fans of the team.

When the Dutch centre back joined Bayern Munich in July 2022, he wrote on Instagram that it was “bittersweet” to be leaving the club.

“To the fans of Bayern,” De Ligt wrote.

“I want to thank all of you for your love and support.” I had a great time playing for this beautiful club for two years. To have played for a team like Bayern Munich has been a real pleasure. We have had times that will stay with us forever. Getting the title and having some great Champions League nights. I will always remember these times.

“This is why it’s so hard to leave this club.” I will always be grateful for the love and support I got from the fans, the staff, and the players. This new plea that so many of you signed really moved me.

“Thank you all for two great years.” I hope that FC Bayern wins many more titles, just like they always have. “Mia San Mia.”

The club also announced this evening that Luke Shaw will miss the first few weeks of Untied’s season because of a calf injury. Shaw missed most of last season with a soft tissue injury.

United are still interested in bringing in a few more new signings before the conclusion of the summer transfer window and make a move for PSG's Manuel Ugarte

Ten Hag wants to get a new centre midfielder, so United might make more moves in the summer.

It looks like the Red Devils’ leaders might become interested in Manuel Ugarte again.

Because United wouldn’t pay PSG’s £52 million asking price for the Argentinian, the deal is still on hold. The club is also interested in Youssouf Fofana of Monaco and has made contact with the French player.
