🚨 OFFICIEL! DNA test results show Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr is of African descent as Brazilian player is given certificate of Cameroonian origin 🧬🇨🇲🇧🇷

Vinícius Júnior, a Brazilian star for Real Madrid, revealed his African roots in a touching event at the Fonte Nova stadium.

This news, which came out on  Consciousness Day, was the main event of the Brazilian Football Confederation’s (CBF) Roots of Gold campaign. 

AfricanAncestry.com helped us find out that Vinícius Jr.’s relatives were from the Tikar tribe in Cameroon.  

The 24-year-old winger was given an official certificate confirming his new Cameroonian background. Fans watched this touching event live before Brazil’s match against Uruguay in the South American World Cup qualifiers.

Vini Jr. wore a custom jersey with the flags of Brazil and Cameroon on it to honor the event and show his strong link to his ancestors.  

“For us, Vini Jr. is not only a great football player, but also a symbol of resistance against racism and an inspiration to people all over the world,” the CBF said.

Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira, Vinícius Júnior’s father, was the only family member who knew about the surprise.

 He tried not to cry as he thought about how important it was for them to reconnect with their heritage: “A lot of Brazilians don’t know where they come from.” It makes me happy that we’re also from Cameroon.  

“Vinícius’s reconnection with his roots is an act of resistance against the erasure caused by racism and ,” said Gina Paige, founder of AfricanAncestry.com, praising the find as a powerful sign of strength.

 Vince Jr. really wants to honor his roots. But racism and the effects of have erased his family’s past, as they have done for many people of African descent.

“Thanks to a DNA test with AfricanAncestry.com, a pioneer in paternal and maternal genetic ancestry tracing for black people around the world, we discovered that Vini Jr.’s ancestors come from the Tikar tribe in Cameroon .”
