Dominik Szoboszlai produced a thunderous strike for Liverpool as they defeated Leicester City 3-1 in the Carabao Cup at Anfield – and Jude Bellingham and Christopher Nkunku were impressed.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s dream start to his Liverpool career has not gone unnoticed further afield.
The midfielder has proven to be an instant and ideal fit in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. The 22-year-old has taken little time to prove his worth in this new-look Liverpool side and captured imaginations, once again, with a stunning Anfield strike against Leicester City to help the Reds progress in the Carabao Cup.
Liverpool were forced to battle from behind, which has become somewhat routine this season, as the Foxes took a surprise lead in the third minute. Second-half goals from Cody Gakpo, Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota sealed the team’s place in the fourth round and were rewarded with a trip to Bournemouth.
However, this game will always be best remembered for Szoboszlai’s stunning finish. The goal did not just capture the attention of Liverpool fans, either, with some well-known names showing their appreciation for the club’s latest talisman on social media.
In his Instagram post, simply captioned ‘BANG’, Szoboszlai received plaudits from plenty of his fellow professionals. Among them was Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who commented ‘Szobooo’, alongside a rocket emoji.
Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku wrote ‘Boom’, while another former RB Leipzig team-mate in Peter Gulacsi jokingly suggested that Szoboszlai should ‘put a lil more power in it’.
There were plenty of his Liverpool team-mates in the comments but most were left speechless and left a series of emojis to show their praise for the midfielder. Alexis Mac Allister, though, believes mate tea is the reason behind his recent performances.
The fellow new signing instructed Szoboszlai to ‘keep drinking mate’, which was encouraged by another Liverpool team-mate. Replying to the pair, striker Darwin Nunez responded: ‘Whatever mate you gave him, now he always has to drink haha’.
