🚨🚨| 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋: Rasmus Højlund is Manchester United’s new 9, following in the footsteps of some of the club’s greatest strikers 👌🇩🇰

Rasmus Hojlund will debut the 2024/25 season with a new number on the back of his Manchester United shirt: Nine

In his inaugural campaign as a Red, the young Dane donned the number 11, a number that is more frequently affiliated with the greatest wingers of the past.

However, Rasmus has consented to assume the squad number that is globally associated with the centre-forward position, as a result of Anthony Martial’s departure, the last holder of the no.9 jersey.

Rasmus joined his compatriot Christian Eriksen and goalkeeper Tom Heaton in returning to Carrington on Monday. The squad will depart for the United States on Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of the Tour 2024, presented by Snapdragon.

Subscribing to MUTV allows you to view each minute of all three events.

The tour opener against the Gunners this weekend may provide fans with their first glimpse of Rasmus in his new number, which has a distinguished heritage in Manchester United due to the notable figures it has represented.

Andy Cole, who scored 121 goals for us between 1995 and 2001, is perhaps the most cherished Red to have donned the shirt during the Premier League era.

During the Golden Age of Sir Alex Ferguson, Louis Saha and Dimitar Berbatov also wore the uniform as they assisted the team in winning Premier League titles.

Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Romelu Lukaku have all experienced periods of success in the jersey in recent years.

After joining United from Serie A club Atalanta, Hojlund tallied 16 goals in his inaugural season.

The Danish international scored five goals in his first four games of the competition, with the first goal coming in our first Champions League fixture of the season, played away against Bayern Munich.

Hojlund’s wait for a league strike persisted until December; however, he experienced a robust second half of the season and was awarded the Premier League Player of the Month award for February after scoring five goals during that time.

We can only hope that United’s new number nine will continue to be successful for many years to come.
