Following in the footsteps of his compatriot and inspiration, Ronaldinho, Pepsi has named Vinicius Jr., a star of Real Madrid and Brazil, as its newest global ambassador. The collection was made in collaboration with Art of Football [AoF] and pays homage to the brand’s early 00s football ads.
Thanks to over 20 years of legendary football campaigns, Pepsi and football have a long and nostalgic relationship. 00, in which global superstars like Beckham, Henry, Totti, Roberto Carlos, and of course, Ronaldinho, will run through train stations, medieval battlefields, and more. Despite its abundance of superstars, talents, and cameos, the most recent TV commercial, “Nutmeg Royale,” is a throwback to some of the brand’s most memorable TV spots from the early years.
That was 20 years ago, and to honor that time, Pepsi collaborated with the artistic community of football to produce a collection that coincidentally served as the ideal platform for the introduction of Vinicius Jr. as the company’s newest global brand ambassador.
The Pepsi x [AoF] collection comes after the Golden Cabane collection from the previous year, which featured retro-styled items honoring Pepsi’s renowned football competition that debuted 20 years ago. The collection’s co-branded accessories include bucket hats, shoulder bags, and tote bags. A recreation of Pepsi’s early 2000s football jerseys completes the look.
