Greenwood left Old Trafford on loan last summer after agreeing with the club that it would be best for him to start over elsewhere in his career after being arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of several charges, including attempted rape.

After that, in February 2023, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges. However, Greenwood was sent on loan to Getafe, where he has had a good start to life.

He scored the first goal of the game on Monday, his fourth league goal of the season, with a clever finish near the post.

Greenwood cut inside on his left foot and clipped a shot from just inside the area that caught Augusto Batalla off guard and into the corner of the net.

Greenwood turned and ran to the corner flag to celebrate with his teammates. He had just set up a simple win for his team.

His goal in the 21st minute put Getafe in charge, and 15 minutes later, Borja Mayoral scored another goal to make it 2-0.

Getafe won the game without much trouble and are still in 10th place. Granada, on the other hand, are still in the relegation zone and are six points behind safety.

The loan deal for Greenwood at Getafe ends this summer and his deal with United ends in June 2025.

But it is said that the 22-year-old player wants to stay in Spain and has told his agents that a £40m move to Barcelona would be his dream move.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also thought to be keeping an eye on Greenwood’s progress at Getafe as they think about making an offer for the striker.
