Rasmus Hojlund equaled Erling Haaland’s record from 2019 when he became the youngest player to score in the first two matches of the Champions League on a ‘overcast’ day at the Theater of Dreams

Rasmus Hojlund’s goal against Galatasaray in the Champions League tied Erling Haaland’s record for Manchester United in 2019.

With this goal on Tuesday night (19 years, 73 days), he broke the record for the youngest player since Haaland in 2019 to score in each of his first two Champions League games.

Haaland, who recently joined Borussia Dortmund, faced KRC Genk on his Champions League debut. He scored a hat-trick to start his debut on the biggest stage in Europe in front of a raucous Signal Iduna Park crowd. He scored again against Liverpool at Anfield in his second game.

Since then, Haaland has established a reputation as one of the most potent attackers in the world, scoring 39 goals in as many league games and even helping City win their first championship in 2022–2033. Haaland will be motivated to get Manchester City back on track against RB Leipzig on Wednesday after a defeat to Wolves the previous weekend. On Saturday, United will play Brentford again.
