On the occasion of his formal return to Sevilla after an absence of 18 years, midfielder Sergio Ramos was overcome with emotion and unable to control his tears. He had spent a total of 18 years away from the club.
He made an appearance at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, where it all happened. When the Spaniard returned to the city where he was born and nurtured, a sizeable contingent of Sevilla supporters turned out to wish him a warm welcome.

“I want to thank all of the fans for letting me come back here again,” Ramos is reported to have stated. I’m incredibly grateful for it. I appreciate your help very much. I’m appreciative that you welcomed me inside and created a welcoming atmosphere for me. I have missed you for the past 18 years, and in that time I have seen many ups and downs in life. I pledge to use every resource at my disposal to earn this jersey, and I’ll do it with a grin on my face.
