Real Madrid wants to sign Alexis Mac Allister, a playmaker for Liverpool.
But the big Spanish teams are getting ready to grab the Argentine World Cup winner next year.
Argentine news sources say that Real and Liverpool have already talked, but Anfield has not yet gotten a firm offer.
The Spanish champions and finalists in the Champions League are thought to see Mac Allister as the best player to take their place when long-term midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos leave the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid is currently in talks with Modric about giving him one more year to stay in Madrid.
The Croatian star, who will be 39 in September, is said to be willing to take a lower pay so that he can stay at the club for a 13th season.
Kroos is also in talks with Real, but this time it’s about a one-year contract that would keep him there until 2025.
It is possible that Mac Allister’s deal to join Liverpool from Brighton for £52 million was worth at least £40 million.
The Argentine press say that Real Madrid or any other team could pay around £60 million to get him out of the club.
For the Reds, Mac Allister has played in 32 Premier League games this season and 45 games in all categories.
He has been an important part of Jurgen Klopp’s new middle, helping set up five Premier League goals and scoring four himself.
Klopp has had to put together a whole new engine room since Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita all left last summer.
To name a few, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch have all played important roles.
Klopp will say his sad goodbye to Anfield tomorrow when Liverpool plays Wolves.
