Real Madrid is experiencing a defensive injury dilemma after Carlo Ancelotti disclosed issues with centers David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger.
Los Blancos defeated Las Palmas 2-0 on Wednesday, picking up their first win since losing to Atletico Madrid in the derby last weekend. However, the victory was slightly tainted by the injuries to both of their central defenders during the La Liga match.
Alaba was forced to be replaced by Lucas Vazquez in the 40th minute due to what is believed to be a groin injury. Rudiger has been hurt, although it appears that it is not as bad as what his defensive mate has.
“(Antonio) Rudiger is feeling a little uneasy. He feels he’ll be fine for Saturday, but we believe it to be a knock. Alaba has an adductor issue; I believe he won’t be present, Ancelotti informed the media following the game.
Alaba and Rudiger have now joined Eder Militao in the treatment room for Real Madrid’s long-term injury. As a result, Ancelotti is down to Nacho as his only healthy center back. Dani Carvajal, though, will rejoin the team after making a full recovery from a muscular ailment.
