Two losses for Real Madrid are often seen as the end of the world, and the coaching staff is often in a lot of trouble.
That’s what happened when Real Madrid lost 3-1 to Atletico Madrid last month. President Florentino Perez was very angry about the loss.
Since then, though, Real Madrid has bounced back pretty well, winning three games in a row. Their most recent win was in the Champions League against Napoli.

The 3-2 win over Napoli by Real Madrid showed that Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo can form and even lead the team’s scoring lines in a 4-4-2 grid.
For the first time, Vinicius seemed to enjoy his job. He worked with Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and others to make things hard for Napoli’s defense.

It’s not a surprise, since Vinicius has scored 61 goals and set up 64 others, making him Real Madrid’s most important shooter, and Rodrygo has quickly become a star.He is having a rough patch right now, though, and Joselu has been playing well, so there has been some discussion about his role. To be fair, the president would rather have Rodrygo play with Vinicius in the big games.
Real Madrid will stick with the 4-4-2 formation. If there is one thing that defines Carlo Ancelotti as a coach, it is his desire to get the board members’ approval, even though he is an expert in football strategy. Vicinius and Rodrygo, who charge together, seem to be the answer for Ancelotti. But the Italian needs to simplify the 4-4-2 system going forward so that he can line up the two players in big games and keep the midfield strong.
That will help Ancelotti keep his center strong. Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde can add creativity and energy, and Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga can make the middle of the field more stable.It remains to be seen, though, whether this plan will work when Real Madrid signs a new star attacker in January or the summer of 2024.
