Carlo Ancelotti tried new things with Real Madrid during the off-season, and some of them worked and others didn’t. The management is clearly still looking for the best mix of players and personalities to make the team work better together on the field.
It looks like the change to a 4-4-2 diamond formation is pretty clear, though. Ancelotti picked the same lineup against Juventus on Friday night as he did in last week’s Clasico, even though his team lost both times.
The fact that the Italian manager has stuck with the setup shows that he thinks it works best for the players he has available. It’s clear that he has a few favorite candidates that he wants to work hard for.
Rodra, a journalist, says that Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga are two such stars who will be essential to the manager’s starting group this coming season. They are what the team is built on.
It’s clear that Real Madrid has a lot of good players in the finishing third, but their attack isn’t as strong as it could be after all the transfers they made this summer.
Bellingham and Camavinga are also very good and will likely be the team’s backbone because of their ability, versatility, and attitude.
Ancelotti thinks that Bellingham, who was just bought, is good enough to start behind the two forwards on a daily basis. As an aggressive midfielder, it’s his job to set up goals and direct play in the other team’s box.
Camavinga, an inside player, will play further back. They are expected to get Federico Valverde or Luka Modric to join him. There will be a fight for the pivot job between Aurelien Tchouameni and Toni Kroos.
Because that’s what the 4-4-2 shape calls for, the four midfielders who make up its core will be heavily used in both offense and defense. There is no doubt that a lot will depend on the choices Ancelotti makes with the wide range of high-quality items in the park’s center.
