According to rumours, Real Madrid midfielder Vinicius Junior and Nike have nearly completed negotiations for a new sponsorship contract.
According to ESPN, the winger and the global sports brand have been in talks for an improved contract for several months. The player’s representative is Fred Pena, the CEO of Roc Nation Sports’ Brazil division.
When the agreement is inked, which is due by the end of the month, he will become one of the North American brand’s key faces. The new arrangement is being discussed less for financial reasons and more for marketing and promoting Brazil International’s expansion.
The new agreement will put an end to the issue that erupted between Vinicius and Nike in February of this year when he showed up to a Madrid game wearing all-black footwear.
He allegedly voiced his anger over the company’s contract and refused to wear his customary colorful Nike boots since he felt they didn’t symbolize his increasing status. The 23-year-old has signed a new contract that would keep him at Real Madrid through 2027.
He has been sponsored by Nike since he was 13 years old. Although his current deal with Real Madrid expires in 2028, he has already won two La Liga titles and the Champions League, solidifying his reputation as one of the game’s most recognizable players. He has become a prominent player for the Brazil national team as well.
