After stating his desire to leave Manchester United, Marcus Rashford was kicked out of the dressing room.
On Tuesday, the wantaway star shocked his teammates by declaring that he was prepared for a “new challenge.”
Only two days had passed since manager Ruben Amorim had left him out of the team for the derby match against Manchester City.
United scored twice in three minutes, including an injury-time winner from Amad Diallo, to shock their opponents by winning 2-1 after falling behind 1-0.
Later, Rashford, who was watching the match from home, congratulated United in a social media photo.
Several of his teammates, notably defender Diogo Dalot and captain Bruno Fernandes, enjoyed his message.
However, when the 27-year-old striker made an unexpected visit to his former elementary school and gave an unapproved interview, some members of the team were devastated.
“In my opinion, I’m prepared for a new challenge and the next steps,” he stated.
In addition to overshadowing United’s victory against City, the remarks soured the atmosphere in the camp before Thursday’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal, which they lost 4-3 to Tottenham.
