Last night, Barcelona got a new worry when star player Robert Lewandowski got hurt during the game against FC Porto and had to leave the game.
After doing the necessary tests on the 35-year-old, Barcelona released a statement stating that the important center forward had sprained his ankle.
The tests done this morning showed that Robert Lewandowski has a sprained left ankle. “He is out, and his availability will depend on how well he recovers,” the statement said.
Not as bad as we thought
There were already rumors that Lewandowski’s injury got worse today and that he would not be able to play against Granada this weekend.
But it looks like his situation is worse than first thought because reputable reporter Toni Juanmarti says Lewandowski will be out for a month.
Because of this, the 35-year-old will not be able to play in the big El Clasico match against Real Madrid on October 28 at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
This is terrible news for Barcelona, who already don’t have important players like Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Raphinha.
De Jong is not likely to be able to make it back in time for the Clasico, but Raphinha and Pedri should be able to after the international break.
Now, Lewandowski is also likely to miss the important game against Carlo Ancelotti’s team. He will also be unable to play in the games against Granada, Athletic Club, and Shakhtar Donetsk before that.
Over the next few weeks, Xavi will need Ferran Torres and Joao Felix to step up and score goals while his main scorer is out.
