Ryan Gravenberch draws criticism from Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman after REJECTING international call-up to stay with Liverpool: ‘We are not happy’

On the final day of the transfer window, Ryan Gravenberch moved from Bayern Munich to Liverpool in a £35 million deal. The 2003 star placed such a high value on donning the Liverpool jersey that he declined the Netherlands U21’s invitation in order to concentrate on remaining at the host club.

Gravenberch was named to the Netherlands U21 team during the upcoming international break against Moldova and North Macedonia in the Euro U21 qualifying round, but he refused to join. The former Bayern Munich midfielder’s decision caused him to be criticized by Dutch coach Ronald Koeman. Koeman affirmed his dissatisfaction because Gravenberch refused to play for the Netherlands U21 .

“I advised Gravenberch that it was a mistake to decline to play for the Netherlands U21. You must give it your best when playing for a national team or your country. You must thus join the team. In order to adjust, he chose to remain in Liverpool. I am acquainted with Gravenberch, who is a kind person who made the wrong decision.

Al Ittihad with record offer for Mohamed Salah - Liverpool can accept »

Salah has been the subject of two offers from Al-Ittihad, worth £150million and £170m.

And that interest is showing no signs of abating with rumours that Al-Ittihad will return with another offer worth £200m.

Jurgen Klopp said after the game that he was confident that Salah will still be at the club come the end of the Saudi window.

Sky Sports asked Szoboszlai, who opened the scoring in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa whether the dressing room had been talking about Salah’s proposed move.

Szoboszlai said: “Everyone is talking about it and of course we are talking about it to each other. But he wants to stay and be here so we are happy. He is a great person and we need guys like that.”

The Saudi league is anxious to make a move for Salah in order to make him the face of the league.

The state will reportedly pay the winger £2.4 million per week to compete in the Saudi Pro League, according to sources.

He currently earns roughly £350,000 per week at Liverpool.

The Premier League is powerless to stop its best players from leaving, according to Jurgen Klopp, because of the absurd amounts being offered.

However, Liverpool has imposed a limit on Salah and is unable to acquire a replacement now that the British transfer window has officially closed.Szoboszlai expressed his excitement at scoring his first goal in the game and expressed the hope that there would be many more to follow.

“In the first home game [against Bournemouth] we did not start so well and also at Newcastle, we did not start so well. So after a team meeting, we were told to start well and finish with 11 men. So we scored a quick goal and that was good. Hopefully, everyone will stay healthy.

“As a midfielder, we need time. We do not know each other so when the games come we will be even better and better.”
