IT wasn’t the night Scotland hoped for against England.
But the 50,000-strong Hampden crowd did have one huge moment to cheer – albeit courtesy of Harry Maguire.
.
Maguire scored Scotland’s goal at Hampden
The defender was mercilessly trolled throughout
Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane all struck as Gareth Southgate’s men secured a 3-1 win in Glasgow.
Scotland rarely threatened in the first-half but found their stride in the second-half and fought back into the game.
Harry Maguire, who was introduced at halftime, arrived at the same moment as that revival.
.
Maguire, 30, of Manchester United, has recently been the target of a lot of criticism.
His play has been questioned, and he no longer holds the position of captain at this club.
After Maguire arrived at Hampden around halftime, the Scotland supporters were in an absolutely intolerant mood.
His EVERY touch was cheered by the cheeky Scots fans, who also loudly bellowed “woooooah” every time he was near the ball in an effort to unsettle him.
.
.
And the trolling seemed to work in the 67th minute.
Andy Robertson found himself on the right hand side and his low cross was deflected into his own net by the extremely unfortunate Maguire.
And the trolling continued, with the hapless defender trolled on social media.
Scotland didn’t manage a SINGLE shot on target – yet scored through Maguire.
One fan joked: “Scotland’s best striker Harry Maguire”
Another said: “Super sub Harry Maguire.”
A third exclaimed: “Scotland have no attempts on target yet they have a goal. The one and only Harry Maguire.”
The earlier trolling from the fans also caught the attention.
Another fan said: “The Scotland crowd doing a “wooooah” every time Maguire gets on the ball 😂”
While another said: “Brutal for Maguire this.”
Another added: “They’re doing Maguire dirty.”
