SEPARATE PATH: Former Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea ‘is in talks’ with the Serie A team and could reject interest from Saudi Arabia, Spain and MLS

DAVID DE GEA is purportedly in discussions with a Serie A club and may decline transfer proposals from the United States and Saudi Arabia.

The 33-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was a member of Manchester United’s most recent championship-winning team; however, he has been without a club for more than a year.

Despite winning the Premier League Golden Glove in his final term, De Gea exited Old Trafford as a free agent last summer after 12 years at the club.

De Gea has continued to reside in Manchester and has been observed supporting the women’s team of Manchester United.

In April, he issued a three-word update on his future, hinting at a potential return, and has maintained his fitness through independent training.

The footage was captured at Altrincham, his local non-league team. Subsequently, he has provided an additional indication that he may be on the brink of securing a free transfer by publishing an hourglass emoji on X.

Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are among the Premier League clubs to which the goalkeeper has been linked.

The Athletic also reports that he has been “presented with a variety of options, such as offers from the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Italy.”

They assert that the latter is imminent.

This week, we disclosed that Genoa has extended an offer to De Gea.

The most recent report indicates that he is currently in discussions to join the Serie A club on a free transfer.

A year ago, Genoa achieved promotion from Serie B and finished 11th in their inaugural season in the top tier.

Edwin van der Sar, the legendary United player, recently extended his support to the former Atletico Madrid player.

The former goalkeeper recalled a comparable situation that he encountered following his departure from Juventus in 2001.

In the end, he joined Fulham before moving to Old Trafford and lifting the Champions League.

Van der Sar responded to another training clip uploaded by De Gea by stating, “David, maintain your faith and conviction, as I experienced a comparable situation in 2001, and look where it led me in the end!”
