On the morning of June 17, England defeated Serbia 1-0 in the first match of Group C Euro 2024. Jude Bellingham scored for England.

The England team rushed forward to attack right from the first minute. At one point, they forced all 11 Serbian players on the field to retreat deep into their own half.

England’s constant passing back and forth made the opponent’s crowded defense unable to stand. In the 13th minute, the “three lions” got the opening goal. Bukayo Saka escaped down the right wing and crossed into the penalty area. Jude Bellingham rushed in from behind and headed the ball into Serbia’s net.

Having scored a goal, England still kept the same playing style. They did not push the pace of the game too high, but still created dangerous opportunities.

At least twice their passes from the right wing sent the ball across the opponent’s goal, but no one was able to create a touch. Meanwhile, Serbia is almost deadlocked in implementing the game.

Having a dominant position in the first half, England completely changed in the second half. The players played sporadically, often losing the ball under Serbia’s pressure. Meanwhile, the attackers almost lost contact and could not create dangerous plays.

This is what helped the Serbian team rise. But their strikers lack the necessary accuracy.

For England, their only chance in the second half was Harry Kane’s header hitting the crossbar in the 77th minute. Otherwise, they did not make any further impressions.

Despite not playing too impressively, England still maintained a 1-0 score against Serbia on the opening day of Euro 2024.
