Setback for Liverpool as Alexander-Arnold faces three-week absence due to knee injury

Due to a somewhat injured knee ligament, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out for three weeks, the team said on Tuesday.

During Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Arsenal in an FA Cup third-round match on Sunday, the right-back hyperextended his knee.

Prior to the team’s League Cup semifinal first leg against Fulham at Anfield on Wednesday, assistant manager Pep Lijnders announced that tests had revealed a “little tear” to the lateral ligament.

“A major blow—he will likely be out for three weeks,” Lijnders stated during a press briefing. “He was one of our most important players.”
