Rio Ferdinand and Kate have invested £40,000 in two expertly trained security dogs.

The Sun Online was told by a source that the couple bought the dogs to safeguard their family because they are expecting their first child together later this year.

The former England star shared a picture of themselves with the German shepherd that a dog rescue organisation is training.

Later this year, Kate and Rio will become parents to their first child together.

Rio resides in southeast London with his spouse, Kate.

They’ve had a Chihuahua before.

It comes after a string of well-known football players, such as Fabinho and Dele Alli, were signed this year.

A source said that Kate and Rio visited the well-known Chaperone K9, a renowned institution where experts train breeds to be peaceful family dogs that will explode into yelling beasts if they sense danger.

Rio Ferdinand is worried about his wife Kate, 31, and their three children living in their South East London home because he is away from home a lot.

“They already have severe procedures in place, but you can never be too cautious,” the insider said.

“Having a dog makes sense because they enjoy taking walks in the countryside as a family.”
