The forward told Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the head coach of PSG, earlier this month that he would be moving in the summer. He has since decided to join Real Madrid. The World Cup winner hasn’t signed a deal yet, but one could be made public as soon as it’s no longer possible for Real to play PSG in the Champions League.

Mbappe has been with the Paris team since 2017, after having a big year with Monaco. At Real, he could play as the No. 10 if Luka Modric leaves at the end of the season. His deal ends at the end of the season, and the Croatian is one of the club’s all-time greats.

He won the Ballon d’Or in 2018 and wants to keep playing even though his 40th birthday is coming up soon. Carlo Ancelotti has asked him to join his coaching staff at the Bernabeu. He initially said no, but according to the Athletic, he’s still considering his choices and could still accept the offer.

Modric could get his dream shirt number back if he ends his time playing at the Bernabeu. Mbappe has worn that number for France. Real Madrid players like James Rodriguez, Mesut Ozil, and Luis Figo have all worn the No. 10 shirt.

The BBC says that Mbappe is about to sign a five-year deal with Real that will pay him £12.8m a year. He’ll also get a £128 million bonus when he signs, which will be paid out over five years.

Mbappe has thought about moving to the Spanish city before and has been close more than once. Real Madrid was interested in the French player when he played for Monaco, but he’s stayed with PSG since signing, with the Parisians paying a lot of money to keep him.

The French team could lose Mbappe, Neymar, and Lionel Messi all in the next year as Luis Enrique changes the emphasis of the team. They are now focusing less on big-name stars as they try to win the Champions League that their Qatari owners want.

He has scored 244 goals for PSG since he joined, and for the past four years, he has been named Ligue 1’s Player of the Year. He has won a lot of local titles, but only made it to one Champions League final, where Bayern Munich beat him in 2020.
