SUPER RED: Liverpool end their tour by crushing Man Utd with 3 goals in the ‘day of attack’

New boss Arne Slot and Liverpool wrapped up their pre-season tour of the United States with an impressive 3-0 win over Man.United in South Carolina on Saturday night.

Both teams opted for a fast start and ManUnited created the first real chance in the eighth minute, but Mason Mount saw his low effort saved by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

But Liverpool, who were wearing their new 2024-25 away kit for the first time, took the lead in the 10th minute thanks to some good play. Carvalho turned to pick up a pass from Diogo Jota and fired home.

Man United continued to create chances, with Kelleher stepping in again in the 13th minute to deny Mount from scoring. Marcus Rashford also tried his luck with a long-range effort that went just wide.

Liverpool’s second goal, however, came in the 36th minute. Mohamed Salah cleverly cut inside down the right flank before setting up Jones Jones for the opener.

Both sides created half-chances early in the second half, before Liverpool sealed victory in the 61st minute, with Tsimikas scoring in front of a jubilant 77,559.

Liverpool’s notable absentee was star man Dominik Szoboszlai, with manager Arne Slot playing down injury fears: “I think it’s day 13 of the tour. Dominik has been in every training session and every game, and we played the last game two days ago.

“I think it’s a bit of fatigue and we don’t want to take any risks because we’re flying back to Liverpool tonight and on Tuesday all the other players are coming. So we want to start with all the players available and we don’t want to take any risks with Dominik today.”
