Mahomes, who played his college ball at Texas Tech, was greeted more warmly by the Dallas crowd when he was shown on the video board between the first and second quarters of the playoff game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kelce was shown first on the board, and fans inside the American Airlines Center booed the NFL superstar before the Mavs then showed Mahomes and his wife, who both received cheers from the crowd.
One video, which circulated on X, was captioned: “Travis Kelce got boo’d and the crowd went crаzy for Patrick Mahomes.”
That wasn’t the only thing.
The Mavs posted on X that Mahomes and Kelce were at Sunday night’s game, and they had a little fun with how they presented who was who.
Mahomes was tagged in the post, while Kelce was referred to in a bit of a different manner.
“Our guy Pat and @taylorswift13 ‘s boyfriend in the house!” the Mavs tweeted along with the video of the two.
One of the main talking points of the 2023 NFL season was the friendship between Kelce and Swift. Swift traveled to the Suρer Bowl with the Chiefs, having flown in from her Eras Tour in Japan to watch Kelce compete.
With a 116-107 victory, the Mavericks opened up a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals. If they win on Tuesday back in Dallas, they will have punched their ticket to the NBA Finals.
This coming season, Kelce and the Chiefs will try to win the Suρer Bowl for the third time in a row.
