ALEJANDRO GARNACHO’s pick of holiday clothes has caused a stir.
During preseason training, the star player for Manchester United wore an Al-Ittihad shirt, which made fans worry that his hero, Cristiano Ronaldo, would be annoyed.
Ronaldo plays for the Saudi team Al-Nassr right now.
In the Saudi Pro League, Karim Benzema plays for Al-Ittihad, who are fierce foes to Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
On the field, Garnacho wore Ronaldo-branded underwear and called himself “Cristiano” while bowling with friends. He has shown his love for the player in many ways.
During Ronaldo’s second term at Old Trafford, he even shared the field with the Portuguese star six times.
When Garnacho wears an Al-Ittihad shirt with the Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr, which is a strong rival of Ronaldo’s current team in the Saudi Pro League, he might get in the way of his motivation.
Fans were shocked and confused when they saw a picture of Garnacho wearing the Al-Ittihad colors. They reacted on social media.
“His idol plays for Al Nassr, so why is he wearing Al-Ittihad’s jersey?” that person wrote.
“Why not Al Nassr’s outfit to show support for his hero?!” Someone else said.
The third word that was smashed is “embarrassing.”
A fourth said, “He’s not even wearing his idol shirt!”
Garnacho was working out late at night while wearing the shirt before the new season started.
After Argentina won the Copa America this summer, the 20-year-old was given more time off and is still not back with his Manchester United teammates.
Facundo Pellistri, a teammate from United, joined him for exercise. He is also on a delayed summer break because Uruguay is in the Copa America.
Fans think that Erik ten Hag, the boss of Manchester United, might not be too happy with the Garnacho’s wardrobe choices either. Others think that his picture with Al-Ittihad might be a sign that he is ready for a move.
Someone wrote, “Bro wants that Saudi move!”
“Bro is forcing his way out of Man Utd,” said someone else.
Last season, Garnacho scored ten goals in all competitions. His goal at Wembley against Manchester City in the FA Cup final was the game-winner.
Manchester United is currently on a pre-season tour of the United States. Last week, they lost 2-1 to rivals Arsenal in Los Angeles, which put their plans off to a bad start.
The last game of their tour is a friendly against Liverpool in South Carolina on Saturday night. In San Diego, they play Real Betis first.
Ten Hag’s team will play Man City in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 10, which is usually the first game of the season.
