Bruno Fernandes has said that he gave Marcus Rashford the penalty because he “needed confidence.”
Ashley Young brought down Anthony Martial in the box, and after a long VAR check, the guests were given a penalty. Instead of their captain, Portugal, taking the kick, Marcus Rashford did it.
Fernandes said this after the game: “I felt Marcus needed confidence and his goal.”
“Marcus is also very good at taking penalties.” That penalty kick is sure to go in for him. The important thing is to score that penalty, and Marcus did a great job of it. Their job is to score goals, and they want to score goals.
“That’s the game; it makes you stronger.” After the penalty, Marcus seemed like he couldn’t be stopped; he could beat anyone.
I believe that sometimes you need this chance or this chance to feel confident again. He’s been wonderful for us.
Fernandes has taken a lot of penalties over the course of his career, but he has only missed five. Three of those five have been in Premier League games.
When comparing Rashford’s play this season to last, we said, “Last season, he was amazing, so everyone’s expectations were higher. Now it’s just about getting his goals back, and everyone will say he’s world-class again.”
After Alejandro Garnacho scored the first goal with an amazing overhead kick, Rashford’s penalty kick made it 2-0 for the away team against a struggling Everton team.
After fans praised the young Argentine player on X (formerly Twitter), manager Erik Ten Hag called the goal the “goal of the season.” The goal was similar to Wayne Rooney’s 2011 goal against Man City.
The young player kept getting praise from Gary Neville, who said it was “unbelievable.”
And I was there when Rooney scored in the Manchester derby. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an overhead kick that good in a stadium. What we just saw was amazing.
“This atmosphere has quieted down a bit.” He takes two or three quick steps backward. Wow. That’s a really cool goal. That seems like something we’ll see more than once.
Red Devils’ Anthony Martial scored the game’s third and final goal, making things even worse for the home team.
United is now sixth in the Premier League, two points behind Tottenham.
