TERRIFIC video shows Manchester United’s strategy against Arsenal failing because no one wanted to pass to contentious winger Antony.
On Sunday, United fell to the Gunners 3-1 despite jumping out to an early lead thanks to Marcus Rashford.
But they ultimately gave up after less than a minute and then let in two late goals at the Emirates.
The majority of the game was spent by the Red Devils playing second fiddle to Arsenal, who had the majority of possession and opportunities.
Additionally, a video has now surfaced showing how United struggled to advance the ball after appearing to disregard Antony on the right wing.
As shown on Match of the Day 2, United’s defenders frequently just kicked the ball around the field.
The Brazilian was spotted making frustrated gestures as players like Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof managed to maintain possession.
The ball was eventually forced back to United goalkeeper Andre Onana as Arsenal decided to use a half-press.
Arsenal went on to earn a significant victory as a result of the opposition’s failure to take advantage of the open space on the right.
Jermaine Jenas, a pundit for Match of the Day 2, offered this analysis: “You saw Lindelof had an opportunity to get the ball out from under his feet, fire it to a wide guy, and give him a one-on-one.
But he declines the chance to hand the ball to Antony. To isolate Zinchenko, they moved Wan-Bissaka into the middle of the field.
“Lindelof is in possession of the ball. Give me the ball, you’ve spent god knows how much money on me to go and attack, Antony is yelling at him.
The time is right to offer him a one-on-one, but instead, they ignore him and Arsenal begins to half-press.
They returned to Onana because they lacked the motivation and expertise to pass the ball to the widemen.
Amidst accusations that he assaulted an ex-girlfriend, Antony’s future with United becomes uncertain.
After the woman called the authorities, he was discharged from Brazil’s national team.
But United has not yet commented on the matter.
The Brighton face next at Old Trafford after the international break.
