De Gea has been unemployed since leaving United when his contract expired in the summer.
He has teased fans over a potential return in recent weeks, even returning to United earlier this month to watch the women’s team play.
The Spaniard had been back in the city to clear out his home and even met up with current Red Devil Sergio Reguilon whilst he was in town.
His latest snap now has fans calling for his comeback once again after De Gea shared a selfie with Fernandes.
Posting to X, formerly Twitter, De Gea and Fernandes posed in the colours of their eSports team Rebels Gaming.
De Gea founded the team in 2021, with Fernandes and Juan Mata later joining as shareholders.
Alongside the snap, De Gea wrote: “Together again.”
Supporters were quick to call for his return, with one commenting: “Get back to the team. We have many challenges ahead.”
Another added: “Manchester United needs you bro.”
A third fan also wrote: “Bring him back.”
Fernandes also shared a snap on Instagram of the pair catching up, alongside team-mates Tom Heaton, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.
De Gea showed his love in the comments section, simply writing “Brothers”.
Since leaving United, De Gea has so far been unable to find a new team, and at only 32 years old, he has apparently even contemplated retiring.
He made 545 appearances and amassed eight significant trophies during his twelve years at Old Trafford, including a league title and the Europa League.
After departing Manchester United in the summer, De Gea is still an unsigned free agent.
