Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late goals against Fulham on Sunday capped a historic comeback for Liverpool.

Alexander-Arnold gave Jurgen Klopp’s team the lead at Anfield, but Harry Wilson tied the score a few minutes later. After that, Alexis Mac Allister gave Liverpool the lead once more, but Kenny Tete tied the score with two minutes to halftime, leaving the game evenly balanced.

In the 80th minute, Bobby De Cordova-Reid struck the net, giving Fulham hope that they would win the match. Yet, to change the course of the game, Endo and Alexander-Arnold both found the net. As a result, Fulham is eight points above the relegation zone while Liverpool is only two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

These are the key issues to discuss following an exciting afternoon at Anfield…

Salah’s quest

One of the main topics of conversation leading up to Sunday’s match was Mohamed Salah’s attempt to score Liverpool’s 200th goal. Billy Liddell (228), Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285), and Gordon Hodgson (241) are the only men who have scored more goals for the team.

When Bernd Leno mishandled a long-range effort from Dominik Szoboszlai, allowing Luis Diaz to steal the ball, Salah believed he had already accomplished the milestone. Replays showed that Diaz was positioned offside when it wiggled to Salah for a tap-in.

Before Salah’s goal was disallowed, there was a contentious incident that had nothing to do with VAR. Diaz bumped at the goalkeeper’s head with his knee as he fought Leno for the ball. Leno needed extensive care, including bandaging his head.

Leno sustained a concerning injury, but he was still permitted to play. Neither at halftime was he replaced. The incident is probably going to rekindle the controversy surrounding the continuation of Premier League players following a knock to the head.

Wilson haunts Reds

When Alexander-Arnold’s incredible free shot struck Leno’s bar underneath and fell into the net in the 20th minute, the game suddenly came to life. Former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock remarked, “My word what a strike,” while providing commentary for BBC Radio 5 Live.

Alexander-Arnold’s free kick, according to Warnock, is “outstanding” and will go down as “one of the best” of the current Premier League season. It’s difficult to argue with the pundit, but minutes later Liverpool’s celebrations were subdued.

The reason for this is that Wilson, a Wales international who attended Liverpool’s academy, was able to poke home the equalizer after Antonee Robinson crossed the ball. It didn’t matter that the winger declined to celebrate in front of the Kop. It was a level game.

Mac Allister’s screamer

Mac Allister’s first goal for Liverpool may go down as his greatest since he scored a goal from about 25 yards out that bounced the ball into the top corner. speak about ridiculous; speak about accurate. Seasonal objective? It’s on par with Manchester United’s bicycle kick against Everton, made by Alejandro Garnacho.

Fulham had other intentions, but Liverpool supporters were eager to talk about those incredible goals from Alexander-Arnold and Mac Allister at halftime. A corner sent the ball flying into Tete’s path, who deflected it in the direction of Caoimhin Kelleher.

The injured Alisson’s replacement, the stand-in goalie, was able to acquire some possession of the ball, but not enough. In a desperate attempt to halt the ball as it trickled across the line, he spun around rapidly. Liverpool had several incredible plays, but Fulham was tied at the half.

Dramatic conclusion

Following the intermission, the action resumed. Nunez, who had just cut his hair into braids, had a chance to make it 3-2 when he hit the crossbar from about nine yards out. Moments later, the Uruguayan was given another fantastic opportunity, but he mispronounced his lines.

Nunez’s carelessness was exploited by Fulham, who scored ten minutes remaining. Willian sent the ball to Tom Cairney, who moved De Cordova-Reid’s attack with a chipped cross into the six-yard box. That header looked like it would be the last play of an incredible game.

Then, though, was the shocking conclusion. Endo curled the ball from the box’s edge into the upper corner to tie the score at three. The winner was as impressive, as Alexander-Arnold hammered the ball in from just inside the 18-yard line. It’s difficult to recall a Premier League team scoring four goals better. An incredible occasion.
