In an alleged transfer swap agreement that would see Scott McTominay join the German champions, Ryan Gravenberch is negotiating to transfer from Bayern Munich to Manchester United.

Ryan Gravenberch and Scott McTominay would switch between Manchester United and Bayern Munich if a deal were to be reached.

Prior to Gravenberch’s departure to the Bundesliga last year, United manager Erik ten Hag handed him his professional debut at Ajax and made an effort to get him to sign with the club. McTominay, who has played for United’s first squad in 211 games, has not been included in the starting lineup thus far this year.

The midfielder only moved to Bayern from Ajax last summer for £21 million, but Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich prevented him from making the starting lineup. He didn’t play the entire 90 minutes in a domestic game last season and only made three Bundesliga starts.

Since Thomas Tuchel is eager to add a specialized holding midfielder and Bayern has completed the signing of Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig on a four-year agreement, Gravenberch is eager to avoid a repetition of that campaign and is willing to switch their midfield choices.

Gravenberch reiterated earlier this summer that he will provide any updates on his personal future after the Under-21 European Championships, which finished last month. However, the midfielder’s earlier statement had given the impression that he was open to leaving the team.

He said as follows to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: “It’s possible that we have plans together. I haven’t really discussed that with the coach yet; I’ll do so once I return from Georgia and Romania after the [Under-21] European Championship. Then, we’ll check things out.

According to Christian Falk of Bild, United and Bayern are negotiating a swap deal in which McTominay would go to the German powerhouses in return for Gravenberch. When asked about this future over the weekend, the Dutch midfielder responded, “I don’t know what will happen in the next days.”

Tuchel was questioned if it was a problem that the team had not signed a No. 6 holding midfielder this summer, according to Bild. The boss argued that there was “no problem” before going on to say: “You put fuel on a fire that isn’t there. I don’t see any issue. We have a long season ahead of us and three sixes.

After completing the acquisitions of Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hojlund, United is optimistic that they will be able to complete a number of further incomings and outgoings to close up their summer transfer window.
