UNBELIVABLE: Some Taylor Swift fans are signing up for Capital One credit cards in the hopes of getting tickets to her first tour since 2018

Taylor Swift just announced a 2023 stadium tour. Some fans are signing up for Capital One credit cards to get early access to tickets.

Swift has partnered with Capital One since 2019, so some fans applied for cards even earlier for access to exclusive merch.

In addition to waiting hours in virtual lines to register for verified fan presales with Ticketmaster, some Swifties noticed that Capital One credit and debit cardholders get early access to tickets a few days before they go on sale to the general public.

Hundreds of fans posted on social media that they were applying for Capital One cards, while others celebrated that they had them already. Capital One declined to comment on how many applications it has received since the tour was announced.

Mollie Cahillane, who told Insider she’s been a fan of Taylor Swift for over 10 years, opened her Capital One card about eight months ago based on suspicions about an upcoming tour, and knowledge that Swift has partnered with Capital One.

Some, like Cahillane, were ahead of the game and already had cards. Others sent an influx of credit card applications on November 1. Dan, a New York City-based fan since 2008 and “hardcore fan” since 2014, said it was a “no brainer” to apply for a card.

“I’m into the credit card points game,” he told Insider, and he considered the Capital One Venture X card before opting for the Savor One Rewards because of the dining rewards and absence of an annual fee.

How To Get Presale Tickets For Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour

Swift’s previous tours have sold out quickly, and fans are determined not to miss out this time.

Twenty-year-old Lucy in Dallas, Texas told Insider that she’s doing everything she can to try and see Taylor Swift for the first time, including opening a Capital One Card.

“I really wanted to make sure I have a chance to get into the presale queue and get tickets,” she said, but she was also in the market for a credit card anyway.

Other fans shared similar stories on social media.

A genre of TikTok videos advising fans how to choose which credit card to open and how to use it to purchase tickets also appeared, all within the same 24-hour period.

A multi-year partnership between Taylor Swift and Capital One was initially announced in 2019 in advance of the release of her album Lover.

Ever since, holders of Capital One cards have been granted access to unique merchandise and pre-release sales for albums. According to a statement from the firm to Insider, Swift is featured in a new Capital One advertisement that features “Easter Eggs for fans to uncover” and “cameos from Taylor Swift’s eras.”
