Update on new signing Leny Yoro’s serious injury with return date for £52m Man Utd signing revealed after being spotted on crutches

Manchester United’s streak of injuries persists as their latest signing, Leny Yoro, is in danger of being sidelined for the initial two months of the upcoming season due to a metatarsal injury.

The player, who was acquired for a sum of £52 million from Lille, had a foot injury during the first match of the club’s US Tour, which resulted in a 2-1 loss to Arsenal.

The adolescent seemed to experience a non-contact ankle injury in the initial half and departed with the aid of a physiotherapist while limping.

Currently, he has been observed utilising crutches and donning a protective boot while present at the club’s training facility located at UCLA in Los Angeles.

Rasmus Hojlund also had a hamstring injury during that game.

He will be inactive for a duration of six weeks.

However, the injury sustained by the 18-year-old centre-back Yoro is a significant setback for Erik ten Hag, who had intended to commence the season with Yoro and Lisandro Martinez as the central defensive partnership.

Ten Hag acknowledged that he and his squad exercised caution with Yoro during the preparation for the match, given that he had only participated in a limited number of training sessions.

Last season, United experienced a total of 66 instances of injury or illness that impacted its players.

Meanwhile, Manchester United continues to strategise for the future following the acquisition of 16-year-old Chido Obi Martin from Arsenal.

The highly productive young striker made the decision to leave Arsenal and is said to have engaged in discussions with Ruud van Nistelrooy, the newly appointed coach of Manchester United.

The Dutch icon appears to have successfully persuaded the 16-year-old of the promising prospects at Old Trafford, and as a result, the youngster has chosen to pursue this opportunity.

The Danish born teenager joined the Arsenal academy at the age of 14.

His current contract had come to an end and Arsenal would not meet his demands over pay for a new one.

Obi Martin scored 29 goals in just 17 league matches for Arsenal’s U18s last season.

In February his name came to the fore after scoring 10 times in one game for the Gunners’ U16 side against Liverpool.
