UPDATE: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has reportedly given Manchester United permission to negotiate a transfer

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg reportedly authorized Manchester United to get into transfer negotiations.

Hojbjerg, who transferred to Spurs from Southampton in 2020, has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs throughout the summer transfer season.

The £30 million offer from Atletico Madrid was accepted by Spurs, but the deal was never finalized since the two teams couldn’t agree on the personal terms.

Hojbjerg turned down a rumored £45 million contract offer to become the newest Premier League player to move to Saudi Arabia.

Hojbjerg might yet leave Spurs before the transfer window closes even though he hasn’t found a new team. A contract extension might not be made available to the Danish midfielder since he has lost the favor of the new manager, Ange Postecoglou. Hojbjerg has only made two substitute appearances this season since the former Celtic boss began the campaign with the midfield pairing of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr.

Man United is reportedly considering making a last-minute offer for Hojbjerg before the transfer deadline on Friday, according to The Telegraph.

The 20-time English champions have reportedly been given the chance to speak with the Hojbjerg about a contract.

Man United hopes to recruit a new midfielder in the upcoming days, although it is unclear whether they will actually succeed in doing so.

Erik ten Hag and Hojbjerg worked together in 2013 while ten Hag served as Bayern Munich’s reserve squad manager.

For the majority of the current transfer window, Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat has been associated with Manchester United. Amrabat is a Moroccan professional athlete.

But according to a recent source, the 27-year-old is still awaiting a formal offer from the Red Devils.

Some people think Manchester United must first raise cash through player sales before they can afford to bolster their team.
