At our Foundation’s Dream Day on Wednesday, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and his first-team staff took some time off to create lasting memories with the supporters.
At the Carrington Training Complex, the team—which included Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes—made wishes come true for supporters who had grave and terminal illnesses.
Twice a season, the emotional occasion attracts fans from all over the United Kingdom who come to meet their favorite Reds players and witness a first-team practice from the Jimmy Murphy Center balcony.
Wes Brown, a legend of United, was also present to welcome guests and give them gift bags and shirts in preparation for the big day.
Captain Fernandes told us that the bi-seasonal tradition is very significant. Dream Days have been a fixture at the club for a very long time. We are aware of how much happiness football can provide to its supporters, so perhaps today has been very memorable for them and we have made them happy.
In agreement with his teammate, Rasmus Hojlund stated, “I like giving back.” It is wonderful that we can have days like these since I was a young fan myself and I understand how it is. We are delighted to see them, and they are delighted to see us. Football is all about that, and I have had a great time doing it.
Harry Maguire informed us that it is a day that we are all excited about. You can sense the positive mood in the room since there are so many smiles. It is nice to meet so many amazing individuals, and you leave here feeling incredibly honored to be able to play for this club.
Thirteen-year-old Harley was enamored with the day.
It is been a once-in-a-lifetime event, he stated after meeting his hero, Kobbie Mainoo. It was a lot of fun today. It is strange that I am here after undergoing surgery in January.
Lydia’s 18-year-old father, John, said, “We have had an amazing day.” Lydia has had an amazing experience, creating wonderful memories for our family as well as for her. It is fantastic to have her here today since she has always loved football and United.
