Fans of Manchester United slammed Mason Mount for a terrible first-half showing against Newcastle.
United played the Magpies at Old Trafford and were down 2-0 at halftime thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron and Lewis Hall. Almiron’s first goal in the 28th minute was the play that got Mount a lot of bad press.
Tino Livramento got the ball back in the Toon’s own half and easily got past the handler.
Then Livramento played the Paraguayan player a beautiful pass at the back post, where his teammate scored.
Gary Neville, a former United player, was so shocked that he said the fullback went by Mount “like he wasn’t there.”As soon as Newcastle scored the first goal, fans took to social media to express their shock.
Some people even made fun of United over recent stories that the players didn’t like how their Adidas gear fit them.
Paddy Power posted: “If only Mason Mount’s shirt wasn’t so tight, Livramento wouldn’t have been able to waltz past him as if he wasn’t there.”
Someone else said, “What happened to Mason Mount? My God, Livramento walked right by him there.”Someone else wrote, “Mason Mount let Livramento have a clean run.”
“Bro, how can Livramento run past Mount like that?” asked this fan.
And that one said, “Livramento just completely washed us… Mount was pushed aside like he wasn’t there.
