Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has done what seemed impossible: he has left Jose Mourinho speechless.
United played Fenerbahce in a Europa League match at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
While Erik ten Hag is still fighting for his job, it was no surprise that he chose Onana to play between the sticks.
And the goalkeeper showed his boss how much he trusted him by making two amazing saves in the middle of the first half.
United got ahead early in the game when Christian Eriksen scored a goal.
Turkey, on the other hand, got back into the game and had a number of clear-cut chances.
One was thrown to Youssef En Nesyri, who jumped the highest and headed a pinpoint cross into the bottom corner.
Onana jumped to his right with great skill and swatted the ball away.
After that, the 28-year-old jumped back up and tipped En Nesryi’s close-range rebound over the bar.
So many of his teammates rushed to him right away, and TNT cameras focused on Mourinho’s shocked face on the ground.
The former manager of Manchester United put his hands on his head and looked around with wide eyes. He then laughed out loud in shock.
One fan laughed at X and said, “Look at the shock in his eyes.”
Someone else said, “Those saves were really INSANE.”
One laughed, “New Jose meme template dropped.”
A fourth person said, “Onana with a world-class double save, I am standing up and cheering.”
Some people thought of a similar Onana save that happened when United played Crystal Palace earlier this season.
But En Nesyri finally beat Onana when he scored the equalizer that made the score 1-1.
During the warm-ups in Turkey, Altay Bayindir, Onana’s No. 2, felt the love from the home fans.
Before moving to Old Trafford last summer, the 26-year-old played for Fenerbahce for four years.
One fan ran out from the boxes to give him a hero’s welcome on the field.
Mario Branco, the director of football at Fenerbahce, also gave the goalkeeper a bunch of flowers to celebrate his return.
