MATTHIJS DE LIGT gave an X-rated reaction to how he played in the Netherlands’ first Nations League game.
Both of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s goals in Eindhoven on Saturday night were made by the Manchester United defense.
But his teammates saved him as they smashed five past their opponents for a big win.
Fellow club player Joshua Zirkzee scored the first goal before the guests scored to tie the game.
Because the center-back wasn’t in the right place, Ermedin Demirovic was able to get past Bart Verbruggen.
Once more, it was his mistake that let Edin Dzeko cut the lead in the second half.
De Ligt let a cross into the penalty area go across his body and to Dzeko, who took control of the ball and poked it into the net.
After the goal, Verbruggen could be seen yelling at the 25-year-old, but it didn’t change the outcome.
De Ligt, who was on the bench for the Dutch during the Euros, talked about how frustrated he was with his performance after the game. “I think you know how I feel,” he said. “We won, but then comes the individual part.”
“I know I could have done better on their second goal. I’m not sure what happened. I knew I should have cleared the ball, but I kept having doubts during the play.If I miss a chance because of this game? “I just do my best,” she said.
Fans quickly shared their thoughts on social media about his scary show. One wrote, “Who was De Ligt marking and running to?”
“De Ligt masterclass,” joked someone else, along with a bunch of crying and smiling emojis.
According to a third supporter, “De Ligt looked lost, something went completely wrong here.”
But after the game, De Ligt’s boss defended him while Ronald Koeman played down his mistakes.
When asked if his performance worried him, the Dutch manager said, “He knows he was in the wrong place.”
“This shouldn’t happen, but that’s football.” It’s not fair to make a big deal out of it, in my opinion.
In the 5-2 win, De Ligt played in his 45th international game. On Tuesday, he will go up against Germany and try to add to that number.
He just started playing at Old Trafford after moving there from Bayern Munich for £60 million in the summer.
Since then, the former Ajax player has played three times. His first start was in the 3-0 loss to Liverpool before the international break.
