Karim Benzema has six days to decide for sure if he wants to play in Saudi Arabia for the first half of the year or if he would rather take a pay cut and go back to playing football in Europe. If the chance to go back to Real Madrid came up, that might make him change his mind.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Olympique Lyon have all talked to Benzema’s managers about possible moves. However, Al-Ittihad is not willing to pay for the move, so Benzema would have to take a huge pay cut in order for a deal to go through. Since Benzema makes €100 million a year, the 36-year-old won’t be leaving until that happens.
Sport says that Carlo Ancelotti has asked Real Madrid to think about getting Benzema back to the team. As a backup, Real Madrid brought in Joselu Mato, and Ancelotti has made it work with Jude Bellingham moving further forward this season. However, Real Madrid never got a star number nine to replace Benzema, even though they asked for Harry Kane.
At first, the club said that he couldn’t come back. They haven’t opened the door yet, and they probably won’t make a move for him either. It might only be possible if Benzema made the move and came on loan until the end of the season with a small pay. In the same way, the Catalan daily is not as trusted as news sources in Madrid when it comes to Real Madrid.
